Essential Oils Flash Points

Essential oils flash points – Definition: The flash point of an essential oil is the temperature at which the vapour of an essential oil ignites in the air.

Essential Oils Flash Points: These are mentioned on the Material Data Safety Sheet (MSDS) for the essential oil. A MSDS is usually required for transportation and work place safety.

Essential oils that have a flashpoint of 60 degrees Celsius and above are usually deemed as acceptable cargo for transportation in a normal aircraft hold, provided that they are packed correctly.
Essential oils that have a flashpoint of 59 degrees Celsius and below must usually be shipped in a specialised hold on an aircraft and will require specialised handling.

It is advisable to keep essential oils in a fridge and out of environments that are very warm or hot – particularly essential oils that have a low flashpoint.

The list of essential oils below is alphabetical and the numerical value to the right of the name of the essential oil is the commonly accepted flash point of the oil in degrees Celsius.
